Help for Used Sail Owners and Buyers

Our used sail database is completely up-to-date. Sail measurements should be made with the sails fully stretched as they are when installed on your boat.

Every boat has maximum sail dimensions that must be observed. Unless you have existing sails to use as a reference, it's best to physically measure the boat, rather than relying on manufacturers specifications. Measurements can also be altered as a result of re-rigging. Rig sizes can vary for the same make and size boat.

Sail Care Tips

  • Use your sails within their designed wind range
  • Avoid prolonged flogging and chafing
  • Install chafe protection where needed
  • Make sure spreader tips are well taped
  • Check wire halyards for burrs and remove
  • Do not put off fixing a tear, it will get worse
  • Check stitching for breaks
  • Use sail tape for temporary repairs only
  • Clean your sails periodically to remove contaminants
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight
  • Dry and fold sails before stowing
  • Never use solvents or chemicals on your sails
